The 3D printed Foiling Moth Mast Cams were requested by the client as a replacement custom part for their high-performance sailing boat. The client’s specifications were:

Achieve a design that could not be easily injection moulded

Ensure easy rotation around the mast

Create a tight fit between Mast Cam and Batten to prevent vibration

Be structurally sound to a 40kg horizontal load

Select a 3D printed material appropriate for the loading and marine environment

After an initial consultation to determine these points and some initial concepts. A silver level package was selected, with additional mechanical analysis. The client was able to receive the technical drawings CAD Model and prototypes within days, with the mechanical analysis report following soon after.
